Concept
Reincarnation of lovers throughout time due to the sorceress’ curse upon the H brothers.
Terms of the curse:
J.S. and H.H. will be reincarnated and killed throughout eternity.
W.H. will never die, so he’ll be forced to watch them die each time.
The curse will be broken when the lesson is learned.
Character Analysis
W.H.
Romantic by nature, but realism overrules the heart.
Poised and refined in the sense of a gentleman; outwardly appearance.
Cowardly; tertiary characteristic. He cannot speak out against known evils for fear of self-implication.
The younger brother of H.H.
H.H.
Strong-willed and stubborn; a man of powerful stature.
Sense of “presence” in a crowd; captivating charm and condescending nature.
Wicked when wronged; entitlement allows no room for mercy.
The elder brother of W.H.
J.S.
Fearless: Why should I fear those who can break the body, but never reach the soul?
Lower standing in society.
Disdain for those who use their power as an advantage against others.
A.W.
Sorceress/Witch/Enchantress…(still deciding)
She’s disgusted by the extravagant nature of the H brother’s lifestyle.
Personally wronged by all three other main cast members in the past.
Once optimistic, loving nature has been overcome by the desire for vengeance.
Chapter One
Introduction of characters; starting from the perspective of W.H.
Starting scene:
1800’s Victorian Era
Carriage scene with a confrontation between J.S. and H.H.
W.H. is present but too gutless to intervene.
H.H. decides it is time to teach J.S. the place of a woman with no social standing.
J.S. comes to work for the H brothers as a maid in their home.
A.W. warns J.S. not to become involved with the H brothers.
Middle scene:
W.H. is curious about J.S. as a woman, but he has no experience speaking to women. He’s spent his lifetime in H.H.’s shadow.
W.H. takes to attempting to find out information about J.S. in order to ease into a conversation.
H.H. sees his brother’s sudden curiosity and decides to challenge him.
H.H. views this as a game.
Ending scene:
H.H. decides to take the game one step further.
He invites J.S. to a ball the brothers will be hosting.
J.S. refuses to allow H.H. to make a fool of her.
She is determined to present herself with the grace of a society lady.
W.H. begins to question his brother’s motives but is set back during a slight confrontation with H.H.
A.W. learns more about J.S. and decides to oversee the ball.
The chapter ends with J.S. walking into the ballroom.
Chapter Two
Ballroom spectacle; starting from the perspective of J.S.
Starting scene:
J.S. is fighting her obvious discomfort.
She lacks the social standing for an event like this.
H.H. is taking pleasure in his game.
He’s hoping J.S. will break and run crying into the night.
W.H. is too afraid of H.H. to stop his game.
A.W. is watching the events unfold but is disguised.
Middle scene:
J.S. takes control of the situation and acts as a refined lady.
Various suitors take her hand for a dance.
H.H. is enraged by this and takes her as his own partner.
W.H. makes his own feelings for J.S. known to his brother.
He declares the intentions of courtship.
A long confrontation between H.H. and W.H.
Things get even more heated when J.S. intervenes.
H.H. is trying to deny his own feelings towards J.S.
All he accepts of his feelings is an overwhelming desire to keep her from other suitors.
Ending scene:
H.H. lashes out violently. J.S. is killed during the struggle. H.H. is distraught and chooses to die in the aftermath of the confrontation.
The crushing reality of the murder is too much for his conscience.
W.H. is unable to accept both deaths and considers killing himself too, but A.W. intervenes. She claims to have a way of reuniting J.S.’s soul with her body.
W.H. agrees to A.W.’s demands and the curse begins.
